I had the distinct privilege of working with one of my favourite local bands last year, and the resulting single is now available everywhere. Featuring production, engineering, mixing, programming and additional drums from me, and a music video by Lucinda Lewis. Kapil's latest single is out now, with guest vocals from Polymath of Pakistani hop hop collective Daranti Group and production, engineering, mixing and programming from myself. The song also comes with a stunning animated music video that you can see below. We're currently in Brighton attending and performing at The Great Escape Festival to promote it. Really looking forward to heading to Future Echoes in Norrköping, Sweden this month with Kapil for a series of performances and songwriting sessions. Next month, we'll be in Toronto, supporting our friends Crywank. Additional dates and/or cool things TBA.
Ancestors, the debut single from The Dalmar Chorus is out now. I wrote, performed and engineered the drums, as well as mixing and mastering the song itself. A very fun song to play and a colourful arrangement to mix. I'll be playing with the band at their live debut at Common Ground Festival 2021 on September 12th. Kapil's collaboration with rap legend Lil B is out now, to which I contributed production, drums and mixing. Getting to work with one of my all-time hip hop icons was a wild ride, and B brought so much energy and enthusiasm to the project, which I appreciated immensely. Definitely one of the most fun and surprising projects I've been involved with for a long time. I also designed and created the mograph for the single's YouTube visualizer. I had the privilege of mixing and editing the audio for "Everyone Everyone", a short animated film and audio collage exploring how musical facilitators have adapted their forms of engagement to online platforms during pandemic times , with a specific focus on facilitators who work with differently abled participants with complex needs, with a focus on Glasgow-based initiative Hear My Music. Heart of Gold has dropped a music video for their new song "Just, Everything", which I had the pleasure of mixing- a well constructed, performed and recorded song, with the freedom to try some pretty adventurous mixing techniques. A dream job, basically. If you're attending this year's virtual SXSW, you can catch me performing live with Kapil on Friday 19th March, as part of Wide Days' Showcase. Other artists will include Dead Pony, MEMES, and The Jellyman’s Daughter. ![]() Half Formed Things have released our latest live video, shot at the legendary Leith Theatre- just round the corner from our studio, and a venue dear to all our hearts. Our full live crew were with us, with Sam Jones on lighting design and operation, and Jane Datony on audio. Shouts out to Sandy Butler for the amazing videography. I handled the final audio mix, which gave me some pretty incredible natural reverb tails to work on; the mix is drenched in the empty theatre's ambience, such a fun and challenging acoustic palette to work with. Kapil has been nominated for "Best Live Act" at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2020. This is a wonderful acknowledgement of the work we've been putting into tweaking and perfecting his live show: I can't wait to take the forthcoming live set, with full production and brand new songs, out on the road in the hopefully-not-too-distant future.
You can vote for Kapil here. I'd also highly recommend Nathan Somevi for Best Newcomer, if you're voting. |
